Sources
We base formulas and guidance on peer-reviewed research, position stands from professional bodies, and government health sources. Each page lists its sources. Where research is limited or disagrees, we say so.
Calculators
Every calculator uses published equations, and the equations are printed on the page. Before a calculator goes live, we test its results against hand-worked examples. Inputs are restricted to the ranges the equations were designed for. For example, our calculators only accept adults aged 18 to 100.
Safety
Calorie targets below commonly cited minimums are flagged, and we don't promote rapid weight loss. Our content is general information for healthy adults. It doesn't replace advice from a doctor or registered dietitian.
Review and updates
Each page shows the date it was last updated. We review content when new evidence is published and at least once a year. Medical review by a registered dietitian is being arranged; pages will only be labelled as reviewed once that has happened.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, tell us through the contact page. We correct errors promptly and update the page date when a correction changes the substance of the content.
Independence
If we add advertising or affiliate links, they will be labelled, and they will not influence the formulas, results or recommendations on this site.
